FAQs

  • Before your first session we will discuss your needs, preferences & movement goals, as well as assess your readiness to participate. In our first session, we’ll get to know each other, set up your space & get moving!

  • If you need to make changes to your session, please let me know as soon as possible. I will extend the same courtesy to you. Where possible, a make-up session will be offered during the week.

  • There's no commitment to ongoing sessions. You can pause or stop at any time. If you'd like, I can recommend other teachers or movement options that might better suit your needs/preferences.

  • The smooth, repetitive movements in Pilates can help you get out of your head & into your body, allowing you to put your worries aside & focus on the present moment.

  • Before our session, you will fill out a health form to determine your readiness to participate. Medical clearance may be required. In some instances, Pilates in a clinical setting may be more appropriate to your needs.

  • We can work together to build up your fitness over time. The Pilates system is adaptable & modifications are offered to suit your current capacity. If you have any concerns about your health or fitness, check with your doctor before commencing training.

  • We begin with foundational movements & add on levels of challenge. There’s no complicated choreography & you will be guided & supported the whole way. You’ll be amazed how quickly you progress as you build strength & confidence.

  • While they share similarities, yoga & Pilates differ in their origin, focus & use of equipment. Pilates focuses on controlled movements, often with repetitions of the same movement. Depending on the style, yoga can incorporate dynamic flowing movements or long-held static postures.

  • Short answer: it depends! How active are you? What are your fitness & wellbeing goals? You can find the Australian Physical Activity & Sedentary Behaviour Guidelines here.

  • Matwork is the foundation of the Pilates method. It is performed on the floor & may include small apparatus to challenge or support movement. Other styles such as Group Reformer & Clinical Pilates have emerged over time - you can learn more about them here.
