Honing The Senses

If I were to describe my classes in one word, it would be ‘immersive.’ From the sounds, smells + lighting around the room, to the exercises themselves, every aspect of the class is well-considered to enhance your movement experience.

As you settle into the space, onto your mat + into your body, I ask you to let go of your day (the past), leave your to-do list (the future) + focus on the present moment. I encourage you to tune into the sensations of your body: ‘How do you feel in THIS moment? How are you moving TODAY? Are your sides even? Do you feel anywhere that is restricted or not moving as well as it normally does?’ We observe - without judgement - +  then work to create more balance + greater ease + efficiency of movement.

Our bodies are truly wondrous + your time spent on the mat is a celebration of your body + what it can do. Self-awareness, self-compassion, self-love; all of that! With each session we explore + refine how we are moving + take pleasure in the process. The road to improvement is rarely straight - how we feel + move from day to day fluctuates greatly - but to dedicate time each week to check in with yourself, to notice what’s going on in your body + your brain space is so valuable - essential, really - to your overall wellbeing.

To me, my practice is a moving meditation; it allows me to press the pause button on the hubbub of daily life, + to tune into the physical sensations of my body + the landscape of my mind. It’s grounding, calming + provides precious moments of respite. It dampens the din of constant thinking, eases everyday anxiety + offers the opportunity to focus on a single thing: the movement. The fact that I’m simultaneously building a strong + supple body is an added bonus.

Pilates: helping you to hone your senses, move with ease, + live a life in balance!
