The intention behind SSPM is to hold an inclusive, safe + welcoming space for students to experience the transformative power of movement. Every aspect of the class is well considered, from the exercises themselves, the language + imagery used + the flow/pace of the class, through to the lighting + the sounds + smells that circulate the room. It is an immersive experience, tailored to you + your individual needs.

In Joseph Pilates’ original writings, he speaks of the unity of ‘body, mind + spirit’. I feel that in the modern approach to his work, this original vision has been lost somewhat, in particular the ‘spirit’ aspect. Wellness, I believe, is intrinsically holistic in nature + in order to truly nurture ourselves + find balance + harmony in our lives, we must explore all aspects of Self.

I often receive comments from students that my classes have a ‘yoga’ feel. While I resist the urge to counter - ’This is not yoga!’ - I think that what they are actually referring to is the ‘spirit’ aspect that they are able to tap into during class.

To those who are new or returning to fitness, to the curious student who is interested in self-exploration, to the fitness fanatic who seeks to challenge him/herself in new ways, I extend an open + warm invitation for you to move with me!
